The Gehry Building is a structure
that has been transformed from an
industrial warehouse to a workplace for individuals with remarkable creative
talents. It is also the centerpiece of an
neighborhood that is rapidly moving
through a similar reinvention, as companies in architecture, design,
entertainment, advertising, special effects, publishing and similar fields
occupy buildings that once echoed to the sounds of heavy equipment and
forklift trucks.
The Gehry Building, at 12541 Beatrice Street in West Los Angeles, is the new home of Gehry Partners,
recognized worldwide for its innovative architectural designs, and
TBWA\Chiat\Day,
part of
TBWA Worldwide, one of the world's largest and fastest-growing
advertising agencies.
The building is also home to
Delicious, a tiny food stand that
serves premium-quality healthy cuisine in take-out style, and which has
become the catalyst for stimulating lunchtime conversations among the
creative people who work in the area.
Frank Gehry and his
colleagues, who created a new centerpiece for Los Angeles with
The Walt Disney Concert Hall and
revitalized an entire city with
The
Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, have
focused their talents on the building that houses their architectural studio
and 42,800 feet of adjacent tenant space.
Partnering with Gehry in the project is NSB Capital Partners. NSB, headed
by real estate industry leader Larry Field, has built or reinvigorated
dozens of properties in Los Angeles. Its portfolio includes some 40 major
commercial, retail and industrial centers totaling about 2 million square
feet of floor space.
The result of the Gehry-NSB collaboration is a space that is both
spirited and highly efficient, and an ideal setting for a company that will
benefit by being a member of
this neighborhood's remarkable creative community.
